Bags: which beach bag suits you?

A good bag helps decide how relaxed your day will be – at the beach, at the swimming pool or in the sauna. Here you’ll find bags that hold everything you need for your time out: hamam towel, water bottle, change of clothes and the little things that would otherwise rattle around loose in your bag.

Beach bag: large, sturdy, sand-friendly

On the beach, a bag above all needs space and a sturdy base so it doesn’t tip over in the sand. A woven or reinforced base keeps its shape, and comfortable handles are easy to carry even when the bag is fully packed. At the end of the day, you simply shake the sand out.

Swim bag for pool and lake

For the swimming pool or the lake it can be a bit more compact: towel, swimwear, shower gel and a bottle of water should fit inside without you having to search for long. Open tote bags are quick to pack, bags with a zip protect the contents better.

Sauna bag: everything for your sauna day

We have been running Meri Sauna at Lake Kulkwitz for over 18 years – and see every day what belongs in a good sauna bag: a large Sauna towel or Hamam towel for the bench, a light Bathrobe or Bath poncho for the breaks, something to drink and care products for afterwards. What to look for when buying

• Size: Look at the actual dimensions rather than just “XXL”. At around 50 × 40 cm, two hamam towels, a bottle and a change of clothes fit in easily.
• Closure: Open bags are quick to pack; with a zip, the contents are better protected. Both have their advantages – for every bag, we state clearly whether it has a closure.
• Base: A firm base ensures the bag stays upright in the sand or on the sauna bench.
• Handles: Wide or padded handles don’t dig in, even with heavy contents.

Frequently asked questions

Does a hamam towel fit in the bag?

Yes. Hamam towels are flat-woven and fold up small – two of them fit easily into a bag of around 50 × 40 cm. A thick terry bathrobe needs considerably more space; a light hamam bathrobe, on the other hand, usually fits in well.

Do the bags have a closure?

This is stated in the description of each bag. Our canvas beach bag is open at the top – practical for packing quickly, but not intended for valuables that need to be secured on the go.

How do I get the sand out again?

Turn the bag upside down and shake it out vigorously, then remove any remaining sand with a soft brush. It’s best to wipe off dirt with a damp cloth and let the bag air-dry.

Can a beach bag also be used as a sauna bag?

Yes – what works on the beach also works in the sauna: plenty of room for towels and bathrobe, a sturdy base and comfortable handles.
