Your first sauna visit: what a sauna day at Meri Sauna is like

Have you never been to a sauna complex before and are wondering how a day at the sauna actually works? We’ll explain it to you using the example of the Meri Sauna at Lake Kulkwitz – just as we explain it to new guests every day.

1. Arrival and showering

After getting changed, head to the shower first. Afterwards, dry yourself off well: dry skin sweats more quickly in the sauna.

2. The first sauna session – start mild

For the beginning, the Sanarium at 60 °C or the steam sauna at 45 °C are suitable. Lay out your sauna towel so that you are lying or sitting completely on it – no sweat on the wood. 8 to 15 minutes is plenty; if it gets too warm for you, simply head out earlier.

3. Cooling down

After the heat comes the cold: first step into the fresh air for a moment, then take a shower, head to the ice fountain, or – for the brave – jump into the natural swimming pond. Many of our guests love this moment the most.

4. Resting

Now it’s time for a break: in the quiet room, in the fireplace lounge, or on a lounger in the garden. Take at least as much time as you spent in the sauna – and drink something, preferably water or tea.

5. Two to three rounds – and an Aufguss

Most guests do two to three sauna sessions. If you feel comfortable, try an Aufguss (infusion ritual) in the event sauna. The times are listed in the Aufguss schedule at meri-sauna.de.

Important

Listen to your body. If you have any cardiovascular issues, are pregnant, or are unsure, speak with your doctor before your first sauna visit.
